Memory Cafe - Putnam County Public Library

The purpose of this gathering is to provide a comfortable and welcoming social gathering for those living with mild to moderate dementia and their care partners. Respite care is not provided; care partners need to attend WITH their loved ones.
Goals:
• Provide an opportunity for socialization and connection without stigma
• Provide an opportunity for care partners to share support, experience, and resources
• Provide dementia friendly activities
• Have fun!
Bottled water, crackers, and cookies are provided. Feel free to bring your own snacks as well.

Dementia Friends Information Session - Putnam County Public Library

• Dementia Friends is a 45 minute to 1-hour informational program.
• It began as a program in the UK and has spread to the US and other countries. Indiana is the tenth state in the US to begin a Dementia Friends program.
• Participants are asked to complete a pre and post survey.
• The session is designed to give basic information, reviews normal aging vs. dementia, and gives information about communication and support tips as well as how to support caregivers.
• Participants receive a certificate that says “I’m a Dementia Friend” that they can display in their office or place of business.
